The Nyack Homeless Project, Ltd. started ten years ago as a spontaneous idea among a group of friends that wanted to give back to others in need during the cold winter months. They made sandwiches and handed them to homeless people in NYC parks, living under Federal Highways, and made pastries for children in Group Homes. Each year it spontaneously grew, educating and giving community service credits to children and teenagers to remind them to give back to their communities. In 2005 the NHP became a non-profit organization in the State of New York.

Every Fall/Winter the NHP collects donations of new/slightly used winter coats, hats, gloves, new toiletries, boxed/canned foods, socks and underwear from businesses, communities, schools, clubs, families and individuals to be distributed to men, women, teens, children and families in need in Rockland County and New York City.
